Description
If you are not confident with an ice axe and crampons why not book onto our ‘Introduction to Winter Mountaineering’ course to gain the skills you need for a winter ascent of Ben Nevis.
A winter walk up Ben Nevis needs confident walking skills and the ability to potentially walk most of the distance with crampons. While the path is not steep, hard-packed snow and large areas of ice mean you need to be confident with an ice axe and how to self arrest with one. These are all covered on our ‘Introduction to Winter Mountaineering’ course.
You need boots suitable for crampons, often called ‘B1’ or ‘B2‘ boots. These can be hired in Fort William and ideally tried on before the big day. We will provide ice axe and crampons.
