Description
This route is often called the CMD arete, the name is Gaelic and it translates as ‘Big Red Peak’ and the arete is one of the Classic Scrambles on Ben Nevis, sometimes it is called the Ben Nevis horseshoe due to the U shape of ridges and summits it forms with Ben Nevis.
Many of the harder parts of the arete can be bypassed using easier paths slightly off the ridge, but this may not be the ideal choice if you have never done any scrambling before as it is part of a long mountain day with lots of rough ground to cover.
With an experienced guide you will be able to enjoy the remote and rugged atmosphere of this special way to reach the summit of Ben Nevis.
