Local guide for Ben Nevis

In the high mountains May to October will only have a few snow patches, so many people see this as the main season for ‘summer’. High winds and storms can come throughout the year and you can get brilliant clear days any time of the year. If you want to experience the Scottish mountains in winter why not book on to one of our winter skills courses?

Midges like very low wind, humidity and hate bright light. So a mild wind, dry air or sunlight will drive them away. We do get some days when nature makes it perfect for the midge. That is why we give FREE Smidge to all our clients who book May to September, the most likely time for midges.

It’s your adventure and it’s only you and your friends in the group. So the walk will be based around your fitness. The bigger peaks can take 8 or more hours of walking over rough ground while some of the Glen routes follow tracks, rough muddy tracks but less challenging walking. Just let us know your level of experience and fitness and we can work with you to select the right challenge.

Tell us! We can work towards that goal. We may have to factor in weather, so we never guarantee a specific peak or route as we have to work with the weather.

Want more adventure?

Why not book a ‘rest day’ abseiling, climbing, scrambling and the amazing Tyrolean Traverse across the gorge in Glen Nevis.

All these activities are only a short distance from the road, so great for a low level day that is high in adventure.
